Functional Skills at Higher Farm Education

At Higher Farm Education,

We offer Functional Skills in Maths and English from Entry Level 1 through to Level 2, providing personalised 1-to-1 and small group sessions designed to make learning engaging, practical, and relevant. Our unique farm environment provides a hands-on backdrop that brings lessons to life in ways a traditional classroom cannot.

Our Learning Methods

Our experienced functional skills facilitator, excels at creating immersive learning experiences. In Maths, students might explore the farm by identifying plants and trees, collecting data for statistics, or calculating ratios for animal feed. In English, learning often starts with real-world tasks such as cleaning equipment before transforming observations into step-by-step instructions or researching safe foods for animals and creating informative posters for farm visitors.

We Believe...

Functional Skills should be meaningful, accessible, and enjoyable for every learner. By linking lessons to real farm activities, we aim to help students build confidence, independence, and practical skills that enhance both their education and everyday life.

At Higher Farm Education, learning is more than classroom-based it’s hands-on, engaging, and truly relevant to the world around our learners.
