Human Ecotherapy at Higher Farm Education

What is it ?

Human Ecotherapy at Higher Farm Education recognises the deep connection between people and nature, demonstrating the mental, emotional, and physical benefits of spending time outdoors. This fosters personal growth and well-being. It also inspires a love of learning and curiosity, encouraging the exploration of new skills and experiences in natural environments.

Nature as a healer

Spending time in natural environments can reduce stress, improve mood, and enhance overall well-being. Ecotherapy harnesses this connection to enable healing through nature.

Interconnectedness

Humans are deeply connected to the natural world, both emotionally and physically. This fosters a sense of belonging, promoting balance and self-regulation.

Holistic Health

Ecotherapy focuses on healing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. It considers overall well-being and how the natural world can contribute to mental, emotional, and physical health.

Sensory Immersion

Activities in ecotherapy engage the senses through interactions with animals and the environment. This promotes feelings of calm and connection to the present moment.

Empowerment Through Nature

Engaging in horticulture and outdoor activities empowers individuals by fostering personal growth and providing practical skills in a secure, calming space.

Social Connection

Ecotherapy also encourages social bonding through shared outdoor experiences. Group activities like community gardening or nature walks help build relationships, a sense of belonging and reduces isolation.

Non- Labelling approach

Rather than labelling emotional struggles as conditions, ecotherapy views them as natural responses to disconnection from nature. The focus is on restoring balance through reconnection.
